🔹 General Expectations

  • Be respectful to peers, mentors, House Leaders, and adult facilitators.

  • Follow instructions from all supervising adults.

  • Represent your House with pride, maturity, and good judgment.

  • Treat all equipment, materials, and environments with care and responsibility.

🔹 Behavior & Integrity

  • Bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.

  • Keep interactions positive and inclusive—online or in person.

  • Uphold academic honesty—no plagiarism, cheating, or dishonest collaboration.

  • Respect the personal space and boundaries of others.

🔹 Attendance & Participation

  • Attend House meetings, missions, and events on time and prepared.

  • Complete challenges and assignments to the best of your ability.

  • Work cooperatively on your team and support others’ learning.

  • If you are unable to attend or participate, notify your House Leader in advance.

🔹 Use of Technology

  • Only use club-approved platforms (like ClassDojo, the Clubhouse, Club Homepages, the Blog, Sharepoint, Google Meets, or Mentor Portal) responsibly and for club-related purposes.

  • Do not share inappropriate content, personal information, or passwords.

  • Treat the club’s online spaces with the same respect you would in-person events.

🔹 Parent/Guardian Consent & Accountability

  • All student participants must have verified parental or legal guardian consent to join Project Combustion: Junior Scientists Club. This includes agreement to the club’s safety expectations, behavior standards, and media release provisions.

  • By granting consent, the parent or guardian:

    • Acknowledges responsibility for ensuring their child’s ongoing adherence to the Code of Conduct

    • Agrees that any misconduct, repeated violations, or unsafe behavior may result in the student’s suspension or removal from the club

    • Confirms that all signed agreements, including the media release, remain binding for the full duration of the student’s membership and beyond, as outlined in the membership agreement

    • Understands that participation in the club is a privilege that requires ongoing respect for the values of safety, inclusion, and academic integrity

  • Parent or guardian withdrawal of membership must be submitted in writing, but prior consents — particularly those involving media and participation agreements — shall continue in effect according to the terms agreed upon at enrollment.

🔹 Consequences for Violations

Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences may include:

  • Loss of points or privileges

  • Temporary suspension from activities

  • Removal from Mentor or Scholar eligibility

  • Full removal from the club

Decisions are made by club operators with fairness and transparency. Repeat or serious violations will be reported to the student’s school and/or parent/guardian.

🔹 A Note from the Founder

"Project Combustion is about science, but it’s also about who we are and how we show up. Every member helps shape our culture. Let’s build a community we can all be proud of."

— Larry Pretlow II, Founder & Co-Operator
