💡 What Web Accessibility Is
An accessible site allows all visitors—including those using assistive technologies or with varying physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities—to interact with content easily and meaningfully. Accessibility can be supported through features like screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, visual contrast, and simplified layout structure.
⚙️ Accessibility Adjustments on This Site
We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines and have made the site accessible to the level of AA. Our goal is to continually improve accessibility across all pages and functions. This includes ensuring compatibility with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation. Specific accessibility actions we’ve taken include:
-
Using the Accessibility Wizard to identify and fix accessibility issues
-
Setting the language of the site
-
Defining clear heading structures across pages
-
Setting a logical content order to aid navigation
-
Adding alternative (alt) text to all essential images
-
Implementing color contrast that meets required accessibility ratios
-
Limiting the use of on-page motion to avoid distractions or triggering effects
-
Ensuring that all posted files, documents, and media are accessible (including captions, transcripts, or alt descriptions where needed)
⚠️ Declaration of Partial Compliance (if applicable)
Some pages may contain third-party content or embedded tools outside of our control, including forms hosted on Google or SharePoint. While we strive to ensure accessibility across the entire experience, we declare partial compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA for the following third-party content:

🏫 Accessibility Arrangements (Physical Locations)
Project Combustion does not currently operate a public office. However, select club events and Science Fair Showcases may be held at school facilities in Washington, D.C., which are subject to DCPS accessibility policies. We will ensure that all event notices include guidance for requesting accommodations. When needed, reasonable accommodations (e.g., wheelchair-accessible entrances, language support, visual or auditory aids) will be made available in coordination with the hosting school’s administration.
